This department was called sanitary-assistant’s department in 1963 when it was opened. In Rivne medical school a new educational establishment, which contained 600 persons, appeared only five years later. And only in 3 years a medical college got a new building where the principal educational base of medical-prophylactic department is situated.
There are laboratories, lecture halls, preparational rooms, auxiliary rooms for special subjects:

• microbiology with bases of virusology and immunology;
• epidemiology with medical parasitology;
• communal hygiene;
• hygiene of children and teenagers;
• hygiene of labour.

  Except special subjects the students of this department study humanitarian subjects (business Ukrainian language, philosophy and other) and general medical subjects (anatomy and physiology, medical genetics, medical ecology and other).

  Practical lessons and work are carried out on the base of regional and town sanitary epidemiological station, where specialized and modernly equipped laboratories are located. Lessons are conducted by both staff teachers of long standing term of work and by teachers who directly engaged in practical work. So the work in our college is built in such a way that theory and practice are connected closely. We consider that work in our college is made rightly observing high professional knowledge and practical skills of students during examinations.
