Modern public opinion calls Holodomor of 1932 - 1933 in Ukraine to be Ukrainian catastrophe of the twentieth century,. The terror by famine, introduced by Stalinist totalitarian regime in Ukraine, caused the death of millions of farmers. Because of the famine, mass repression and deportations, Ukraine has lost more than during the First World and the Civil War.
On the 23rd of November at Rivne state medical college there was the educational event to commemorate the victims of Holodomor. Memory candle was lit by the students of I-II years of departments "Curative Affair", "Pharmacy", "Nursing Affair". Having watched a documentary about the famine, the memories of witnesses were read. Honored Artist of Ukraine, member of the National Union of Theatrical Workers of Ukraine, winner of Lesia Ukrainka’s prize, playwright, director, poet Oleksii Zavorotnii performed a monodrama.
